Hello All,
My name is Katie Bug. I have a disability called Fetal Alcohol Effect (FAE), and Mild Retardation. But with God's and Mom's help I am able to learn how to do beadwork. It all started when I was younger, I was always making stuff. My mom is an artist, and she tells me that I was always good at working with my hands and I used to make the "Friendship Bracelets" used with DMC Floss. I still make them here and there. Then in 1994 when I was 17 I started to learn how to do earrings. Then after that I learned how to make bags, then wanted to learn the "Peyote Stitch and I thought I was never going to get it. Then after setting the necklace down for a while I picked it up one day and learned how to do the "Peyote Stitch. I do some Macrame, but more of the beadwork. I could have not done the beadwork that I know now with out Charlene Booth and Bead Talk. I would like to give them a BIG thank you. With them I will be able to learn more and more about "Beaded Stuff". Mom helps me with this page now, but Marylyn Letson made this page for me originally, and she is with the Lord now. I really love her and miss her.
I live on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Our family is Irish and Native American and some other stuff. My sister Jennifer has a radio show on KWJG Kasilof and it's called "Celtic Alaska". I live with my mom and two brothers. I like going to church, and I'm a Christian. Billy who is 20,has the same disability as I have. And Mike is 21, he has Cerebral Palsy. He is younger inside too, Mom thinks about 7. Then my older sister, Jennifer has 2 kids, Aaron, who's 9, and Bronwyn, who's 1 1/2 years old. Aaron is in third grade and LOVES to Irish dance. He taught himself when he was 4. His idol is Michael Flatley of River Dance, Lord Of The Dance, Feet Of Flames. Aaron is in 2 dance classes. And he is as good as Michael Flatley. He even got to send a tape of him dancing to Michael Flatley, personally. I love to take care of kids and be with them. Mom always tells me that I am wonderful with kids. My niece, Bronwyn, loves me! Then my dad lives up the road from us. He lives in the house he and my mom built for my grandfather before he got sick.
With my family helping me I will be able to learn a lot about bead work and teach others also.
If you are pregnant PLEASE do not drink. It is really hard sometimes to have FAE. Please do not do that to your kids.
